In 2001 or 2002, I purchased the female boa from my fish delivery driver for $75.00. He said he got her from a fleamarket in SD.
In 2001 or 2002, I adopted the male boa from a high school girl leaving for college.
The boas were kept together and in January, 2003, she had 17 babies. The Scoria was very exotic looking.
In April of 2004, the pair had another litter. This time she had 25 babies. We were thrilled with a female Scoria from this litter.
Bred the first Scoria to the matriarch. In February, 2005, she had 15 babies. 2.6 normals and 2.5 Scoria. One of the males was premature and died shortly after birth.
2006 was a year spent observing and learning with no babies produced.
Saw ovulations and mating and are hoping for a good 2007.
The reaction to the Scoria has been incredible. We appreciate all who have visited the site and/or commented on the project. Being the caretaker of this new morph has been a wild adventure and we're excited to see what is to come. |
